A season I’ll never forget
Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura
The Wingfoil World Tour season is over – and I couldn’t be happier with how I was able to finish it this year. With two incredible results and a season full of hard work, doubts, successes, and unforgettable moments. I can look back on the past year with great pride.
But the highlight was definitely the World Cup in Gran Canaria. I can hardly put into words how happy and proud I was after that incredible day. It still feels a little surreal.
I came here with a big goal – and now I can actually say: I won my very first GWA freestyle event 🏆
This victory means the world to me. It’s been one of my biggest goals ever since I started working toward this level. Finishing in third place at the same spot last year was a huge success. Actually standing at the very top of the podium this year makes the moment all the more special.
But the season wasn’t quite over yet. A day later, I headed to Fuerteventura – he final stop of the season.
The conditions there – to be honest – weren’t exactly my favorite. That’s why I went into the competition without high expectations. It made it all the more incredible that everything went perfectly once again.
I fought my way through the contest round by round. Despite some doubts, I was able to land my tricks at the decisive moment and made it to the finals once again. That alone was already much more than I had expected before the event.
In the finals, I was even able to take the lead for long stretches. But then things got really exciting again. My good friend Zoe Trudeau pulled off some of her mega tricks and kept closing in. With an incredible final jump, she was finally able to pass me at the very last second.
Of course, I would have loved to take home the win, but I’m super happy with second place. Especially because, under conditions that don’t really suit me, I made it to the finals again and fought for the win right up until the very last moment.
With this result, the season is now over – and I’ve catapulted myself into second place in the World Cup standings.
I’m incredibly happy and proud of my performance. When I think back on how much work, training, and perseverance went into these results, this second-place finish means even more to me.
For now, it’s time to take a deep breath, take some time for myself, keep training, and work on the next steps. I know there’s so much more potential – and that’s exactly what I’ll be focusing on in the coming weeks.
