Technische Features

Hydro-Tech Construction

The SUPERSONIC’s material mix is designed to enhance kite performance in various conditions. The Porcher skytex 32 is used along the kites leading edge. It effectively absorbs moisture, particularly useful in humid climates, preventing water drop formation along the leading edge for uninterrupted airflow. All sizes 12, 15, 19 and 22 are made of skytex 32 leading edges and 10D sailcloth.

Air intake line

Lines have been stretched spanwise across all air inlets to ensure optimal airflow to the leading edge. The air inlet lines hold the rigid foils on the nose in position and prevent the inlets from deforming. The kite fills quickly with air. You get control over the entire wingspan sooner when launching the foil kite. The kite also flies further to the edge of the wind window when overpowered; the leading edge dents later, and the depower works more efficiently.

High-tensile strength bridle line configuration

The bridle line configuration is crucial in managing stability, performance, and ease of control. A well-designed bridle system balances the forces exerted on the structure and precisely controls its behavior. The SUPERSONIC uses Aramid Bridle lines at all levels and at the brake line. The lines are coated with a UV-resistant layer to prevent degradation due to UV exposure. This protective coating extends the lines’ lifespan and reduces wear and tear from sun exposure. These materials ensure that the lines maintain their length and strength over time, reducing the need for frequent adjustments or replacements.

CCB - Chord Cut Billow

The Chord Cut Billow – called CCB for short – is an advanced aerodynamic feature designed to streamline airflow over the leading edge of our foil kites. It consists of a specialized precision cut that modifies the leading edge profile to facilitate smoother airflow. These cuts, known as “billows”, are strategically positioned to guide the airflow in a manner that reduces turbulence and mitigates the effects of surface irregularities. This ensures minimized drag, improved turning, and decreased back stall.

Performance Features

Performance Tuner

The performance tuner is a knot ladder integrated into the C-pulley line to modify the kite’s camber. Moving the Z-main line affects the bar forces and the performance of the kite. Shortening increases low-end power and steering/holding forces. Lengthening does the opposite, decreasing brake line tension and steering/holding power. Adjusting brake line settings for power delivery and depower allows you to optimize and unlock the kite’s maximum potential based on wind conditions and personal preferences. Changes should be made symmetrically.

Optimized Camber

Our knowledge from the Olympic Formula Kite Class is directly implemented in our freeride designs. The profile’s camber, or curvature, is refined to balance lift, drag, and control. The reflex profile sections are essential for controlling and depowering a foil kite and keeping it stable at a low attack angle and full acceleration. The counter-arching pushes the trailing edge down and prevents a front stall. We ensure a smooth and predictable performance even at high speeds.

The wind range chart is to be used as a point of reference. It is based on a rider who weighs around 75kg (165lbs). Actual use will vary depending on your weight, skill level, board size/type (twintip or hydrofoil) and wind conditions on water or land. When choosing a kite size, always use common sense and repeatedly choose a smaller size if you are not sure, especially when using the kite on land.

How does the SUPERSONIC compare to the SONIC?

The SUPERSONIC is designed for speed, while the SONIC excels at Big Air tricks. The SUPERSONIC’s ultra-lightweight materials are more sensitive and less tolerant of unequal power spikes, such as those occurring during takeoffs. This high-value kite requires gentle handling to maintain its performance and longevity.

What you get in return:

  1. Phenomenal light-wind performance
  2. Up to 500g less weight, depending on the size
  3. Fine-tuning options and a less trim-intensive bridle line mix
  4. Improved depower within the bar travel
  5. Worry-free handling during maneuvers, especially with low tension on the flying lines
  6. More front line load for easier take-offs, eliminating the need for advanced techniques

How does the SUPERSONIC compare with the VMG³??

The SUPERSONIC caters to performance-driven riders who enjoy comparing top speeds and tracking with friends or their kite community. The VMG³ is designed for professionals competing at the highest levels, with the 9m VMG³ being a complementary option for stormy conditions.
The SUPERSONIC offers:
  1. Significantly better relaunch
  2. Ease of control
  3. No special technique is required for getting up and starting to foil
  4. Better handling during maneuvers with low-line tension
  5. Compact pack size and convenience while traveling

The advantages of the VMG³ are: superior upwind performance and exceptional depower, allowing you to ride the largest kite for the given wind conditions

How does the SUPERSONIC compare to the SOUL?

The SOUL is a more durable and versatile kite, best paired with a twin tip. The SUPERSONIC, by contrast, is built for experienced riders with knowledge of foil kites and strong flying skills.
