Performance Features

Fine-tuned construction

The fine-tuned constructions of the VMG improve the kite’s downwind performance and control through a 400 g weight reduction. The VMG sizes 15, 19, and 21 feature an improved version of our groundbreaking two-level low-drag Dyneema bridle design. The VMG³ 11 m has a two-level design with an activated brake system to improve the downwind performance. The VMG³ 9 m is a three-level design with an activated brake system and is built to last in stormy weather, giving the rider maximum control. Use the brake settings to adjust the bar feedback and enhance control.

Supported top-sail

The two-level bridle design necessitates an exceptionally rigid internal structure to fully support the minimized bridles. To reinforce the VMG’s profile, fiberglass rods are integrated into the internal rib construction. These rods are protected at the ends and are replaceable if needed. As a result, the VMG³ experiences minimal deformation, ensuring clean airflow and providing a high degree of stability in the air. This stability instills unwavering confidence, empowering riders to push their limits continuously.

CCB Cut - Chord Cut Billow

The Chord Cut Billow is an advanced aerodynamic feature designed to streamline airflow over the leading edge of our foil kites. It consists of a specialized precision cut that modifies the leading edge profile to facilitate smoother airflow. These cuts, known as “billows”, are strategically positioned to guide the airflow in a manner that reduces turbulence and mitigates the effects of surface irregularities. This ensures minimized drag, improved turning, and decreased backstall.

Air intake line

Lines have been stretched spanwise across all air inlets to ensure optimal airflow to the leading edge. The air inlet lines hold the rigid foils on the nose in position and prevent the inlets from deforming. The kite fills quickly with air. You get control over the entire wingspan sooner when launching the foil kite. The kite also flies further to the edge of the wind window when overpowered; the leading edge dents later, and the depower works more efficiently.

Hydro-tech construction

The VMG’s material mix is designed to enhance kite performance in various conditions. The Porcher skytex32 is used along the kites leading edge. It effectively absorbs moisture, particularly useful in humid climates, preventing water drop formation along the leading edge for uninterrupted airflow. The sizes 11, 15, 19 and 21 feature skytex32 leading edge and 10D canopy fabrics. The VMG³ 9 uses our tested TX-light fabric. All kite sizes are available in Dusty Pink, Blue Jewel, and Burgundy. The VMG³ 9 is only available in Dusty Pink.

VMG is a mindset

Velocity Made Good (VMG) ensures the athletes make the most effective use of their resources and reach the finish line in the shortest time possible. The VMG aims to minimize the resistance encountered during sailing, allowing the kite to harness more available wind energy and convert it into forward motion. The kite sits far forward in the wind window and has an enormous depower to cover an extensive wind range. This enables the athlete to use a big kite in relation to the wind speed while staying in control, focusing on body position, and looking out for wind shifts. Maintaining a consistent load on the hydrofoil is crucial to extracting the VMG’s full potential.

We achieved superb accessibility and improved performance in every aspect throughout the kite range. The VMG³ is fine-tuned by multiple top athletes and podium contenders to reach the peak of modern race-kite performance. Our design for the 2028 Olympic cycle features five different constructions to perfectly suit the operating window of each size. The construction and cuts are optimized to ensure the best manufacturing quality, offering equal chances for the athletes and helping fund their careers by sponsoring space on the kite. We want to thank everybody who contributed to finishing the VMG³.
