Technical Features

Streamlined lightweight construction

Constructed from state-of-the-art, lightweight materials to obtain an optimal power-to-weight ratio. The high-strength sail is a triple-ripstop 34 g/m² TX-Light, and the leading edge features a very durable 44 g/m² DLX+ fabric that protects against abrasion. All SOUL components are designed for maximum performance on any terrain. The integrated automatic drainage system is hidden in the construction. Dirt, water, and small objects inside the kite slide automatically from the kite’s center to the wing tips. They exit through two openings at the trailing edge of the wingtips. The streamlined construction ensures that the kite remains agile and highly maneuverable while maintaining peak performance.

High-tensile strength bridle line configuration

The bridle line configuration is crucial in managing stability, performance, and ease of control. A well-designed bridle system balances the forces exerted on the structure and precisely controls its behavior. We use Dyneema for the A-line and brake and Kevlar lines for the B and C-lines. The lines are coated with a UV-resistant layer to prevent degradation due to UV exposure. This protective coating extends the lines’ lifespan and reduces wear and tear from sun exposure. These materials ensure that the lines maintain their length and strength over time, reducing the need for frequent adjustments or replacements.

Air intake line

Lines have been stretched spanwise across all air inlets to ensure optimal airflow to the leading edge. The air inlet lines hold the rigid foils on the nose in position and prevent the inlets from deforming. The kite fills quickly with air. You get control over the entire wingspan sooner when launching the foil kite. The kite also flies further to the edge of the wind window when overpowered; the leading edge dents later, and the depower works more efficiently.

Chord Cut Billow

The Chord Cut Billow – called CCB Cut for short – is an advanced aerodynamic feature designed to streamline airflow over the leading edge of our foil kites. It consists of a specialized precision cut that modifies the leading edge profile to facilitate smoother airflow. These cuts, known as “billows”, are strategically positioned to guide the airflow in a manner that reduces turbulence and mitigates the effects of surface irregularities. This ensures minimized drag, improved turning, and decreased back stall.

Performance Features

Performance Tuner

The performance tuner is a knot ladder integrated into the C-pulley line to modify the kite’s camber. Moving the Z-main line affects the bar forces and the performance of the kite. Shortening increases low-end power and steering/holding forces. Lengthening does the opposite, decreasing brake line tension and steering/holding power. Adjusting brake line settings for power delivery and depower allows you to optimize and unlock the kite’s maximum potential based on wind conditions and personal preferences.

Wide Wind Range

The SOUL is engineered to perform exceptionally well across various wind conditions. Whether you’re kiting in light breezes or strong gusts, it maintains its shape, responsiveness, and efficiency. The enormous depower minimizes risks and ensures you can confidently push the limit in changing weather conditions and terrain. The kite features a sophisticated bridle system and refined canopy profiles to ensure it flies consistently smooth.

Optimized Camber

Our knowledge from the Olympic Formula Kite Class is directly implemented in our freeride designs. The profile’s camber, or curvature, is refined to balance lift, drag, and control. The reflex profile sections are essential for controlling and depowering a foil kite and keeping it stable at a low attack angle and full acceleration. The counter-arching pushes the trailing edge down and prevents a front stall. We ensure a smooth and predictable performance even at high speeds.

SOUL Session

The SOUL is all you need – stripped down to what gives you true fulfilment, a connection between you and nature that captures the essence of freedom.

Our most versatile foil kite is known for its exceptional performance across various conditions by covering a wide wind range. Whether cruising on flat water, snowkiting, or boosting big airs, the SOUL delivers responsive and versatile performance. It is highly efficient, generating ample power even in lighter winds, allowing you to stay out on the water longer and enjoy extended sessions. The kite offers precise and predictable feedback, giving you confidence in maneuvering and performing tricks.

Confidence comes with safety, ease of control, and accessible performance at any time on any spot. One of the standout features of the SOUL is its easy relaunch capability. This makes it suitable for all skill levels, including beginners who are learning the sport and riders who are transitioning to foil kites for the first time.

We believe in a valuable product with thoughfull construction, long product cycles, and multiple maintenance tools. Our approach to a sustainable concept ensures you have a great time for many years because we have built the SOUL to last.

The wind range chart is to be used as a point of reference. It is based on a rider who weighs around 75kg (165lbs). Actual use will vary depending on your weight, skill level, board size/type (twintip or hydrofoil) and wind conditions on water or land. When choosing a kite size, always use common sense and repeatedly choose a smaller size if you are not sure, especially when using the kite on land.

What has changed in the SOUL?

The SOUL3 is a reinterpretation of our legendary allrounder. Our development team’s challenge is to cover as many facets of kite sports as possible and give the kite the most intuitive handling. We have re-examined everything, incorporated our know-how from the VMG and SONIC constructions, and added new technical features and construction adjustments to meet ridersdemands.

What do I need to consider for first-time use?

Take it easy! Our foil kites consist of thousands of parts meticulously and precisely sewn by hand, so it is essential to fly a kite gently. Within the first few flight hours, lines must be tightened, and seams must settle. We recommend a relaxed freeride session where you ride back and forth to load the kite evenly. Jumps should also be performed equally in both directions. The risk of the kite becoming misaligned due to one-sided jumps is highest during the first 5-10 hours.

How does the SOUL3 feel compared to the SOUL2?

The SOUL3 is beginner-friendly, with equivalent jump performance and improved agility compared to its predecessors. In fact, SOUL1 and SOUL2 are still excellent kites to this day, and surpassing them was a real challenge. In summary, we wanted to make the SOUL3 more playful and agile, and it should build power evenly and controllably. What we can guarantee is that the SOUL3 feels like a SOUL on steroids, yet it won’t overwhelm anyone.

What are the differences between SOUL3 and SONIC4?

Simply put, the SOUL is much more forgiving in handling, delivering its full performance even for beginners and covering multiple disciplines. This kite allows you to enjoy classic freeriding, hydrofoiling, unhooked freestyle, Big Air, and snowkiting. Conversely, the SONIC is a specialized Big Air training product designed for jump performance, hangtime, and covering a vast wind range.

The SOUL3 sits lower in the wind window and is better suited for first jumps, starting, unhooked tricks, and learning hydrofoil maneuvers. It hardly overflies, the wingtips are more stable, and it turns more smoothly (less flat spinning). The SOUL3 is the better choice in gusty areas and for snow/land kiting.
