Responsible product design, clear positioning and safety at a glance; the new SONIC is a fusion of power and handling. The most advanced freeride product in the FLYSURFER line up benefits from the performance of the VMG and has the sovereignty of the SOUL:
“Maximum adrenaline kick with minimal risk.” Armin Harich – Founder of FLYSURFER

Progressive Depower:
Sheeting out the control bar, the SONIC immediately loses a good amount of power. After just a few centimeters, the kite is fully depowered. As a result, the power delivered when “powering up” is very progressive and the lift is explosive.

Effective change of the angle of attack:
Controlled by the 3-level mixer and the tuned brake, the SONIC delivers power on demand. The kite has excellent depower and produces massive lift when you need it.

High airspeed:
The technology transfer from hydrofoil-racing gives the SONIC its optimized high-performance profile that reduces back stalling and enables high airspeed.

Excellent turning despite high aspect ratio:
The SONIC has a special outer wing design that allows the kite to turn with a constant pull despite the high aspect ratio. The kite pivots very late, which means that the performance when gliding, jumping and especially landing is excellent.

The added value: The features mentioned above help the timing of the jump to hit the perfect spot as often as possible. The lift is explosive, then the breathtaking glide phase begins. Turning with the SONIC allows precise maneuvers and excellent accelerations after a jibe or tack, especially with the hydrofoil or on snow. The wing provides very consistent pull. It is optimally supported by the 3-level (A, B, C) bridle-design and has improved rigidity thanks to our X-Light canopy material.

SONIC3 vs SONIC2
The new generation has a more efficient profile and is easier to launch from the ground. The stability is increased significantly and the kite comparatively has a superb relaunch. The back stalling is reduced and the performance is more accessible. The SONIC3 catches you very well after the down loop and is also great for heli-looping. For increased long-term value retention, the new SONIC comes with all technical features for maintenance. The SONIC2 is slightly lighter, has a softer canopy material and more aspect ratio than its successor, which makes it harder to control in strong winds.

SONIC vs VMG
Compared to the VMG, the SONIC has easily accessible performance and very good handling. It has a more linear depower and sits deeper in the wind window. Launching and relaunching is much easier. We recommend to every free racer who rides in different conditions our versatile power kite.

The VMG has an advantage in terms of efficient depower and upwind performance, and is designed purely for competition. Launching, pivoting and controlling the kite in gusty conditions requires the skills of a professional. Both products have no IKA registration. The new VMG will be registered for the four-year Olympic cycle.

SONIC vs SOUL
The SONIC requires an experienced kiter who can handle foil kites. The kite is harder to control in gusty conditions and more difficult to relaunch than the SOUL. Jumping, upwind performance and turning are better in a direct comparison. The SONIC is clearly designed for the hooked-in riding style and shines with its depower and hangtime.

The SOUL is gentler and sits deeper in the wind window, has significantly more stability in strong winds, but has less depower, which is why the sizes have been graduated more finely. Overall, the kite offers greater ease of use and is very relaxed to launch and relaunch. It is also suitable for freestyle and massive kite loops.

The SONIC invites you to go to the limit, therefore the wind range table was specified for the ideal application of the product. The information serves as a guideline and is based on a 75 kg or 165 lb rider. The right kite choice depends on various factors: weather conditions, your own kiting skills, and body weight, as well as the type and size of the board (small twin tip or hydrofoil) you are using. “I had so much fun designing the new SONIC, I am simply stoked every time I fly the kite.” Benni Boelli – FLYSURFER Foil-Kite developer
