(Deutsch) Kitesurf Weltcup St. Peter-Ording 2013-07-2323.Jul.2013:
The Beetle Kitsurf World Cup in St. Peter-Ording is the worlds biggest kitesurf event and it broke several records this year. Around 180.000 visitors were cheering for 134 participants from 26 nations in the disciplines freestyle and slalom racing. Flysurfer team rider Christine Boenniger can look back at an extraordinary event. Although she only had a short time for training as she was busy studying, she had a perfect starting tactic. She was able to win all 10 slaloms and so won for the first time in her career the biggest kitesurf world cup worldwide.
Statement from Christine: „I held on to the idea to win all races and made it. A great week with the sun shining all the time, warm temperatures, plenty of action going on the water and in the evenings on the dancefloor are behind me. I am very happy to have won the Beetle kitesurf world cup this year in the disciplin slalom racing. I would like to thank all my fantastic sponsors. Without this people, who stand behind me this would not have been possible.” On this place we would like to wish Christine all the best for the upcoming races with the next one takeing place in southern Italy.
Flysurfer Teamrider Dylan competed in freestyle, but unfortunately did not make it to the main event as there were over 70 athletes fighting for only 12 available places. There were 4 guys in a heat and the best 2 advanced to the next round. Dylan was in a heat with Rondina, Bowd and Fermon. Ben Bowd from Greece kicked everyone’s ass, he was first in the heat. Rondina became second and became third. “I was pretty happy with my riding on my Speed 4 10m. I did most of my tricks and executed them well. Unfortunately this was the end of the competition for me. After 10 days the event was over and they finished the doubles as well.”, said Dylan. Although he did not make it to the main event he still had a good time in St. Peter-Ording riding a segway from MTV, enjoying the different food stands and of course the parties.
There was a lot going on on the event area. On the Flysurfer booth we enjoyed the visits of many known and new faces. Of course our newcomer kite “Cronix” drew a lot of interest, and we explained his innovative features at our booth and when there was enough wind visitors had the possibility to test it in the testing area. And when there was almost no wind this was no excuse for Flysurfer not to go kiting, in regards to our motto “everyday is a kiteday” we simply unpacked our foilkites.
In the evening it was party time and more than once the Flysurfer booth changed into a party location itself and became known as the pre-party hotspot in the kite village!
